Our Global Missions Team partners with the following Missions
Partners:
American Baptist Churches is one of the most diverse Christian denominations today, with 5,500 local congregations compreside of 1.3 million members across the United States and Puerto Rico.*
The Interfaith Hospitality Network of
Greater Cleveland (IHN) is a private, non-profit
organization providing hospitality, meals, and support
to homeless families through a network of religious congregations
and community organizations. IHN mobilizes Greater Cleveland's
religious and civic community to respond to the needs of
our community's most vulnerable: homeless families.
The mission of the Interfaith Hospitality Network of Greater
Cleveland is to provide hospitality to homeless families.
IHN offers compassionate care to homeless families, alleviates
the trauma of homelessness and assists families in securing
a stable home. IHN provides a caring, dignified environment
of overnight hospitality in church and synagogue facilities,
and provides an array of supportive services to help families
become self-sufficient.**
Affinity is proud to partner with IHN by opening our Mission
Home to families in need. Throughout the year, we bring families
in for one week providing them with housing and other basic
life needs. Members from the Affinity church family volunteer
their time throughout the week to spend time with the families.
The Lott Carey Foreign Mission Convention helps churches
extend their Christian witness to the ends of the earth.
They execute this mission in the following three ways:
- Health
- Education
- Ministry
The Lott Carey movement was founded in 1897 by African-American
Baptists who were committed to a substantial foreign mission
thrustespecially on the African continent. They believed
that nothing should distract the church from executing its
primary objective of advancing God's mission throughout the
world. Since the founding, Lott Carey Foreign Mission Convention
has single-mindedly invested in Christian missions around
the world.
They bear the name of the Reverend Lott Carey, who was one
of the first American and Baptist missionaries to West Africa.
Born enslaved in 1780 in Charles City County, Virginia, Lott
Carey purchased his freedom in 1813. He led a pioneering
missionary team to Liberia in 1821 that engaged in evangelism,
education, and health care. Reverend Carey became a well-respected
and gifted governmental leader as well as missionary until
his death in 1828/9. He was also the organizing pastor for
the first Baptist church in Liberiathe Providence Baptist
Church in Monrovia.***
Through partnerships with American Baptist Churches, USA
and the Lott Carey Baptist Foreign Missions Convention, Affinity's
missions' ministry has touched lives in Guyana, South America,
South Africa and Liberia West Africa. Our determination is
to glorify God and transform lives globally.
